Note: The following commentary originally appeared in The Weekly Press, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Volume 31, Number 24; July 22, 2004; page 10. People are beginning to notice that a large part of America, home of the free, is missing. Americans are now indentured servants, serfs and slaves in their own land. The richest 10% of the people own, control and consume 70% of the wealth. The remaining 90% of the People, who create virtually all of that wealth, live on just 30%. Washington’s Public Masters have a suggestion. They say America needs more jobs. Strange! Lots of families have three or four people, each working one or more jobs now. The baby would be working too if the family could find him a job. This transfer of wealth from working families to a rich elite is not solved with more jobs; we have too many jobs now. Most jobs just don’t pay anything. America needs lots of high-paying jobs looking for people, not lots of people looking for low-paying jobs. More jobs is not Washington’s only solution. Almost all Republicans and many Democrats support the result of the systemic solution known as the "Trickle Down Theory." And it is difficult to argue against the truth of that theory. Give lots of money to rich people and some of it will surely Trickle Down to working families. So, if you feel like you are being "Trickled" on, you are right! Dr. Harvey F.
